Born in 1936 as Deirdre Blomfield-Brown in NYC, Pema Chödrön is a world-renowned Buddhist nun who has become one of the most influential figures in Western Buddhism. Her studies under spiritual guides Lama Chime Rinpoche and Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche transformed her path, receiving full bhikkhuni ordination in Hong Kong in 1981.
She later served as the director of Karma Dzong in Boulder, CO and led Gampo Abbey in Nova Scotia. She founded The Pema Chödrön Foundation, dedicated to promoting Tibetan Buddhist monasticism in the West. Her books, including When Things Fall Apart, have enlightened and comforted millions globally.
